Two Roads Therapy

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I - I took the one less traveled by, And that has made all the difference.

Welcome

Life can be difficult at times.

Whatever brings you here, we can work through it together.

Maybe you’re struggling with a life event, anxiety or depression, or maybe you want to change patterns of behaviour that are no longer working for you. Whatever it is, we can explore it together.

Our work will be non-judgemental, confidential and led by you. You will always feel listened to, heard and supported.

Therapy can help you understand your challenges and the roots of your feelings and behaviours. Together we can develop your coping strategies and emotional resilience. There is always time to change, if that is what you want to do.

Life can be complex, why not face it with greater understanding and compassion for yourself?

About Me…

A badge indicating college accreditation with the BCCP logo, text 'collective mark,' and additional accreditation information including 'professional standards authority,' 'accredited register,' and a registered member number.

I’m Liz Keenaghan-Clark, an Integrative Counsellor and Psychotherapist working with adults in South Buckinghamshire and across the country online.

Being an Integrative Practitioner means that, where appropriate, I can use techniques from many different counselling models. In particular I am trained in:

  • Person centred;

  • Psychodynamic;

  • Existential;

  • Transactional Analysis;

  • Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT);

  • Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT); and

  • Solution Focused Therapy approaches.

This means I flex my approach to meet your needs - whatever they may be.

My aim is to build a collaborative relationship, working out what you need and where you want to be, and then seeing how we can work together to get you there.

My qualifications

I have a PGDip (Distinction) in Integrative Counselling and Coaching from the University of East London. I am a member of the British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists and I am bound by their Ethical Standards and Code of Conduct. I am fully insured and DAB checked.

Counselling is my third career, one I was drawn to after several life-changing events in quick succession. Previously I was a Veterinary Surgeon and then a Senior Civil Servant.

I like to think the silver threads linking the three careers are empathy for others, a desire to help make changes and a deep curiosity to understand.

People come to counselling for many different reasons.

I have worked with people with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, stress, anger, life transitions, identity questions and trauma. I have also worked with people who have no particular issue to explore, but who have wanted to work on their self-awareness as part of their development.

I have particular experience with:

  • loss and bereavement;

  • living with life-limiting/terminal illness;

  • addictive behaviours;

  • disordered eating; and

  • domestic and sexual abuse survivors.

Issues I work with…

Our Room…

In Person…

I work from a peaceful and comfortable room in Amersham, in South Buckinghamshire, within easy reach of High Wycombe, Beaconsfield, the Chalfonts and surrounding villages.

The room is 6-7 minutes walk from Amersham train station and is a couple of minutes walk from Amersham’s vibrant high street.

There is free parking for an hour directly outside the clinic and in a nearby road, and paid parking a couple of minutes walk away.

Virtually…

Or you can join me in my virtual room from the comfort of your own home or office.

Either way, your confidentiality and privacy are central to my ethos.

It’s really important that your therapist is a good fit for you.

Contact me for a free half hour phone consultation where we can discuss your reasons for seeking counselling and what you’re looking to gain from it. I will also explain more about my ways of working and my background.

You’ll then have as long as you need to decide whether you want to proceed or not.

Contact me either via the form below or on liz@tworoadstherapy.co.uk.
